
Pat Brown
is originally from Youngstown, grew up on the
southside, graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1968. She went on to Youngstown State University, graduating with a teaching degree
in 1973. While at YSU she participated
in Greek Sing with Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She later graduated with a masters
degree in 1987.
Pat taught Physical Education and Health for the
Youngstown City Schools for 30 yrs. retiring in 2003. Most of her career was teaching at Wilson High School, where she was active with the Panda program to prevent
alcohol and drug abuse.
Her last 9
years of teaching were spent at Chaney high School where she was advisor for the medical careers club.
Other
outreach projects during her teaching
were serving at the rescue missions, presenting drug and alcohol
prevention programs in elementary and junior high schools, and visiting Tod Children's Hospital.
Pat’s
hobbies include snowing skiing, playing cards, and scrapbooking.
Since
she retired, she joined the chorus. Pat
heard about it through a friend and auditioned.
She also joined Altrusa International of
Youngstown, which is a service organization promoting literacy in our
communtiy.
Some
service projects she participated in
were Halloween party at the rescue mission, Birthday Party for children at the
Salvation Army. Pat sang with the chorus at the Second Harvest Sing, at
Williamsburg Xmas, and singing the national anthem at the SteelHounds game.
