NONVIOLENCE PARADE AND RALLY PLANNED FOR OCTOBER 2, 2011

Youngstown City Schools, Sojourn to the Past, Increase the Peace and the Youngstown State University Department of Equal Opportunity and Diversity are planning a first annual nonviolence parade and rally on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at 3 pm. The parade will kick off Nonviolence Week, October 2-8, 2011, and will start on Lincoln Ave. in front of the new YSU business school and proceed downtown.

The parade is open to all nonprofit organizations such as youth groups, athletic teams, church groups, neighborhood watch groups as well as businesses and government officials and politicians. Groups are encouraged to display a banner with their group’s name and a nonviolence slogan.  There is no cost for nonprofits and government, a $25 fee for businesses and a $50 for politicians.
