The Stambaugh Chorus under the direction of Dr. Hae-Jong Lee with  accompanist Alison Morris will present a Spring Concert entitled “Songs of America I: Peace & Hope” on Sunday May 22, 2011, at 4:00 p.m. at Stambaugh Auditorium located at 1000 Fifth Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio.

The program will feature four songs from Randall Thompson’s   “Frostiana”, a commemorative work that features poetry of Robert Frost.   Also, the chorus will be performing “Sleep” by the American composer, conductor and lecturer Eric Whitacre.  Hymns, folksongs, spiritual, and gospel songs such as “Worthy to be Praised”  by Byron J. Smith,  “Shennandoah” arranged by James Erb, “Keep your Lamps” arranged by Andre Thomas, “His Voice As the Sound” arranged by Alice Parker and Robert Shaw, and “Swingin’ with the Saints” arranged by Mark Hayes will be presented.  And continuing with the theme of Peace and Hope in contemporary songs the Stambaugh Chorus will perform “I’ll Make the Difference” by Moses Hogan,  “Deep Peace” by Bill Douglas, “United in Song” by Paul Halley, and “We Rise Again” by Leon  Dubinsky.

Tickets are $10 at the door.  Advance reservations are Buy One Ticket-Get One Free (2 for $10).

College students with ID and youths, high school age and younger will be admitted free.
