Westminster College, founded in 1852, in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, is an independent, coeducational liberal arts college, related to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).  For over 150 years, Westminster has been characterized by the excellence of its educational programs which have embodied ideals and values of the biblical traditions.  The college has a population of approximately 1400 students.

Development of the individual—intellectually, spiritually, and socially—is the primary purpose of Westminster.  The College views education as a maturing experience and believes the liberal arts heritage offers exceptional opportunities for development of the individual in today’s rapidly changing world.  Westminster is a community of learning, small enough to encourage the exchange of different ideas and philosophies yet large enough to provide diversity of knowledge, experiences and values.

Department of Music
The Department of Music at Westminster seeks to provide professional training to talented students who pursue careers as performers, teachers, church musicians, and scholars, and to offer experiences in music to all persons of the College and community, thereby enriching cultural backgrounds and developing musical skills.

The choral program at Westminster consists of five choirs: the Women’s Chorus, Women’s Chamber Ensemble, Men’s Chorus, Chamber Singers, and Concert Choir.  The choirs provide students with the opportunity to perform a wide variety of choral literature, including traditional sacred and secular works, contemporary pieces by living composers, and music from other countries.  Approximately 110 students, from a variety of academic disciplines, participate in the choral program. 

The Concert Choir is a select ensemble of 48 singers, which has a long-standing tradition of excellence at Westminster College and has toured throughout the United States and Europe.  The Chamber Singers consists of 16 singers selected by audition from the Concert Choir.  Every four years the choirs take a European Tour.  In January, 2003, the Concert Choir traveled to Italy and in January of 2007, the Choir traveled to southern Spain, along with the Wind Ensemble from Westminster College.

Dr. Robin A. Lind is an Associate Professor and the Director of Choral Activities at Westminster College, where she conducts the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and Men’s Chorus, and teaches private voice. She coordinates the Choral Music Education program, teaches Secondary Choral Methods, Choral Conducting and co-supervises student teachers.

Prior to her appointment at Westminster she taught at Western State College in Colorado, Salt Lake Community College, the University of Utah, and Lane Community College in Oregon. Choirs under Dr. Lind’s direction have toured Spain, Italy, Great Britain, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Austria and the United States.  She is active as a guest clinician, conductor, and adjudicator. Dr. Lind is advisor to the Westminster College Pennsylvania Student Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association and co-faculty advisor to the Westminster College Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association.

Dr. Lind received her Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Utah, her Masters in Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Oregon, and her BA in Music Education from the College of Idaho. She is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, the ACDA of Pennsylvania, the Music Educators National Conference, the Pennsylvania Music Education Association, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
