Bill Klein, a native of Austintown Ohio, is a 2012 graduate of Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music with a focus on music education, piano, and voice studies. While at the Dana School of Music, Bill studied piano under renowned pianist Caroline Oltmanns. He also has had lessons and master classes with various professors and performers from The Pasadena Conservatory, The University of Texas A&M, The University of Kentucky, The Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, The Cleveland Institute of Music, and the Julliard School of Music. Bill plans to continue his education starting in the fall of 2013 at Youngstown State University studying music education and education administration. Although an active pianist and teacher in the area, Bill was very involved with the Dana Chorale, a select chorus, at the Dana School of Music. This select choir has performed with stars from Broadway, Trans-Syberian Orchestra, and Barry Manilow. Other major works performed with the chorale include Handel’s Messiah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Rutter’s Requiem, Poulenc’s Gloria, Jenkin’s Gloria, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
A passion for orchestral and choral conducting has lead Bill to study conducting with William Slocum, Dr. Brant Payne, Dr. Hae-Jong Lee and Sasha Malika, the assistant director of the Cleveland Orchestra. Bill is currently the vocal music director at Austintown Middle School and the assistant director of choirs at Austintown Fitch High School.
